Location
Built alongside the river Rede which is known for its salmon, trout and otter, which are commonly seen within its waters and the beautiful Northumberland National Park, this eco-resort has a big ambition. The river is notable for being one of the few places in Europe to have a freshwater pearl mussel population, which is seriously under threat. The Lake Biminy project is designed to help the mussel population including limiting sediment flow in the river and the introduction of freshwater trout.
With views over the rolling Northumberland countryside, Lake Biminy Lodges will allow you to connect to the countryside and appreciate nature. The site is steeped in history, from Viking to Roman occupations and collection of artifacts, along with remnants of the mysterious Mithraic religion. The lake has been designed with the Egyptian mythology of creation, with an island in the middle representing on how the sun god Ra, created his son Shu and daughter Tefnut and they worked together to create order in Nu (representing the water) - the chaos of the universe. They created humans from tears of happiness and then made Yah the moon, Geb the earth, and Nut the sky. The dark skies above the location are sure to amaze anyone with the ability to see the milkyway with naked eye.
Biminy, also takes the legend of the Fountain of Youth where the secret springs that feed the Lake can restore youth to older persons who bathed in or drank its waters. In the lake itself and around it you will find many petrified local magical statues and depictions, that give the feeling of charged atmosphere full of magic. The story of St Boswell, and the various pagan legends, gods, and magical creatures are all captured in their elemental form. If you try hard enough, you may catch a glimpse of a pixie, or a fairy... If you believe in this land, they may give you gifts that you will take with you for life...
